On January 6th we got the scariest news that some of our family and friends had been evacuated because of fires in Los Angeles. We felt scared and panicked but also this feeling is oddly familiar as fires in Malibu, where our co founder Val called home for many years, is now more normal then ever.
We knew after seeing the destruction that we would have to help but how? We contacted shelters taking evacuees and also contacted all of the people we know and love to see how we can help. Through the devastation many lost their homes and jobs. We started to see people in need of donations and we got in touch with the pad project about how we would help together. We were able to give thousands of pads to those in need to The Pad Project, GOLF, and Baby 2 Baby. LA came together like never before.
We are so grateful that we are able to support at times like this because of the support you give us all every time you purchase Rif Care. Having period care means dignity and a chance to participate in life no matter the circumstances.
In Los Angeles, it feels like a It's such an uncertain time. We are back to business as usual but with much of our focus on our friends and community. We are wondering, how is the ongoing recovery going to look like? Will our friends and family rebuild? How will people recover who didn't lose a house but lost their jobs as a result of the fires? What will happen with waste created by all the donation centers if items are not claimed?
Do you also have these questions? Let us know in the comments. We cant wait to share more about this journey with you all as we go partner with The Pad Project to provide accessible menstrual care and we also want to hear your stories. Feel free to slide into our DMs on IG for emotional support if you have been affected.
