Last month my usually 28 day cycle was 33 days. WTF?! With no possibility of being pregnant my mind automatically goes to that! After going through all the possibilities with my health I went down to my friendly neighborhood Google search to look up all the reasons why my menstrual was off. Here are some of the top reasons
-
You’re pregnant! If you are sexually at all in the past 9 months whether you had sex on your period, you are on birth control or you used condoms you should definitely take a pregnancy test! Some women even have very light spotting when they find out they’re pregnant so if your period is off for any reason take a test to be sure!

Hormonal imbalances! Hormonal imbalance can be caused by a host of things. Has anything changed in your life? Here are some key things that can throw off hormones to be on the look out for
-
diabetes
-
thyroid problems
-
lack of sleep
-
stress
-
tumors
-
polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
-
fibroids
-
primary ovarian insufficiency
-
medications (including birth control and plan B)
If your period has been thrown off by medications talk to your doctor to make sure you can properly track your cycle for birth control purposes and also make sure your hormones aren’t so out of wack it messes with your quality of life.
3. Weight loss or weight gain induced loss (amenorrhea). Gaining or losing weight at a rapid pace 15% below or above your target suggested weight can have significant affects on your cycle.
Although some of these can be diagnosed on your own if your period significantly off you should consult a physician to get to the root cause and also ask for a hormone test while you’re at it. The most important thing is that you’re getting enough fruits, veggies, exercise and stress receiving activities everyday as possible to keep your body regular.
