When our bodies experience a Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) it means that we have a bacterial infection. It’s typically an overgrowth of e-coli that can affect your kidneys, urethra and bladder. A UTI can happen because of wiping from booty to coochie. Bacteria can enter the urinary tract and travel inside to cause an infection.
Symptoms
-
Discomfort or pain when peeing
-
Blood in your urine
-
Funky smelling pee
-
Frequent urination
Can Men Get a UTI?
Yes they can! But women are more likely than men to get a UTI because our urethra (the part of our body that releases urine) is shorter. This means the bacteria can reach our bladder a lot quicker. Additionally, since our urethra and rectum are closer together, entering our urethra is a lot easier.
Natural Remedies for Treating a UTI
Drinking plenty of fluids can help flush out the infection from your bladder.
When to Call your Doctor
If the infection has reached your kidneys, antibiotics will be needed to treat it and can be prescribed by a doctor. Typically if the symptoms persist for too long for your comfort then it’s best to check in with a doctor to make sure the infection hasn’t spread.
